In Metal art- part 1, I shared with you, pics of various metal sculptures scattered around the old part of the city. There are many more of them, mainly showing life as it was in the early days of settlement. Most of these metal caricatures, come with a sense of humor, instantly bringing smiles to the unsuspecting tourists, like yours truly.
Here are 8 more of the metal art, around George Town – declared as a UNESCO world heritage site, in 2008.
1. LOVE LANE
Where’s my husband? …..The local Chinese say, the rich men who lived on Mantri street, kept their mistress here, hence the name Ai Cheng Hang or Love Lane (popularly known as the Cheating Husband sculpture)

2. ACHEEN STREET GHAUT, CORE ZONE
Much of the traffic of pilgrims to and from Muslim holy land for the Haj, went through Acheen Street, where tickets for the trip were sold. Shopping was also a favorite activity for both pilgrims and their well wishers.

3.MALAY STREET, CORE ZONE
Not only were hapless cows bred and slaughtered here, but you could also smell the fish hung out to dry.

4. CARNARVON STREET, BUFFER ZONE
Oi, you call this limousine?……….This was the place to go for Chinese books, stationery, coffins and paper effigies. All the pleasures of the material world, can be reproduced in paper and burnt as gifts for the hereafter.

At the turn of the last century, many shophouses were turned into cheap hotels, making this internationally known tourists trip, very popular with backpackers
